The Baby Fayre is an organisation which aims to hold a big event to showcase local businesses relating to pregnancy, birth, parenting and the early years of life.
There are seven branches across the UK, and the event has been coming to Liverpool since 2021 and had an official franchise in Merseyside since March 2024.
Last Sunday, the Baby Fayre held an event in St. Helens at the Mercure Hotel which started at 11:00am until 14:00pm.
Sarah Mortimer, 29, the franchisee for the Merseyside branch, said: “I think the community respond well because it is a free event for everyone.
I think the bigger ones in Manchester you have to pay to go in to, and the bigger businesses can afford to do that which makes it harder for small businesses.”
From handmade clothing, sensory toys and swimming classes the Baby Fayre has plenty of products and resources to offer during the events they hold all year round.
During the St. Helens event there was a Baby Sensory business who held a taster class and are based in Wigan, as well as Little Elephants Baby Photography and a Physiotherapy company.
“We try to hold these events every six weeks to every two months and have a break for the Christmas and New Year period.
Franchises are still being sold, and we hold conferences every year between all the branches. We want to get bigger, but we mainly want to keep small businesses our priority.” She added.
As well as products for babies there was also a baking and desert business present as well as prize raffles set up directly by the Baby Fayre.
Many people attended the event and took part in the activities that were on offer with “positive” responses from parents and their children.
