Maghull town council have partnered with a Thai boxing club to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area.

Master Sken Association Maghull Thai Boxing aim to provide free self defence classes for 10-16-year-olds in order to keep them off the streets.
The free classes will be running on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons.
In October 2024 Maghull was Merseyside's most dangerous area for anti-social behaviour, recording 47 crimes at a rate of 2.2 per 1,000 according to crime rate uk.
A dispersal order was put in place for maghull by Merseyside police between last Thursday and Saturday due to ‘mischief night’ and Halloween.
Kris Farrell runs the community interest company and originally set it up with funding from the national lottery.
He aimed to help local young people learn the benefits of a disciplined sport and positive mindset.

Reflecting on a ‘mischief night’ Kris said: ‘Walking up my street there must have been about what 100 kids with their hoods up, I thought, wow. It was like watching an army walk the street.’
He went on to say that when speaking to young people about the police it is clear that ‘they see police and think they will get in trouble … so they need good role models … because this helps teach them respect.’
Kris also spoke about the benefits of the kids getting to learn about the Thai culture and history they may not learn in school.
Maghull Town councillor David Leather-Barrow had this to say on the new initiative: ‘Kids are bored there not bad … not everyone can afford after school activities so where we can help, I think it’s good.’
‘We've been liaising with three local schools; Maricourt, Deyes and Maghull, to try and get the message out; if you want do something constructive in peak anti-social behaviour times this is something to do.’
The sessions begin this Friday at 7:30 pm.
